Sugarplum Cupcakes offers a range of regular weekend and weekday workshops which take place in Woodbridge, Suffolk. Workshops are hosted at The Cook's Shed in Melton or Sugarplum House in Woodbridge and are suitable for all abilities and ages 12 and upwards.
Whether you're a complete novice who'd enjoy a fun morning learning a new skill or an experienced baker looking to update your sugarcraft skills, Sugarplum Cupcakes has something for you.
Beginners Cupcake Workshop
With a maximum of 8 people per workshop you will receive close attention and learn professional baking and decorating techniques including how to pipe the perfect buttercream swirl and how to create your own decorations from sugarpaste. You will leave the workshop with a dozen of your own expertly decorated cupcakes along with recipe sheets, stockist information and all the knowledge you need to continue baking and decorating cupcakes at home.
All materials and equipment are provided including delicious sample cupcakes for you to enjoy while you are here. The cost per person is £55.
We are happy to provide gluten free cupcakes if requested.
Cake Pops
If you're looking for a new cake decorating challenge, why not come along to our Cake Pops Workshop. Originating from America, Cake Pops have become hugely popular over the last few years and are a wonderful addition to any party or celebration.
During the two and a half hour workshop, you will learn how to create and decorate 10 chocolate cake pops. As well as receiving professional tips on how to master the correct technique you will also learn a number of specialist sugarcraft skills including working with silicone moulds and painting with with cocoa butter.
At the end of the workshop your cake pops will have been transformed into deliciously edible monsters, frogs, pandas and more. You will also leave with recipe sheets and all the know how you will need to continue your new found skill from home.
Refreshments and cake pops are also provided to keep you going through the morning! The cost per person is £55.
Advanced Cupcake Workshop
The Advanced Cupcake Workshop will follow on well for those people who have attended the beginners workshop or others who are confident with all the basic cupcake decorating skills.
Focusing on more advanced sugarcraft techniques, during the four hour workshop you will learn how to create a range of delicate handmade sugar flowers including roses and daisys. We will practise the method required to produce perfect lettering from Tappits and also how to use silicone moulds to create sugarpaste decorations including buttons and bows.
As with the beginners workshop, each participant will leave with 12 decorated cupcakes, recipe sheets and detailed workshop notes. Refreshments and cupcakes will also be provided. The cost per person is £70.
Novelty Cupcake Workshop
Further develop your sugarcraft skills by learning the techniques required to create these fun novelty animal cupcakes. During the four hour workshop you will master the art of creating the smooth dome shaped cupcake finish, work with various tools and cutters and learn how to use your own free hand to create character and definition from sugarpaste. Hand modelling is a fantastic technique that can be applied to large cake decorating as well as cupcakes. The cost per person is £70.
Seasonal Workshops
Seasonal workshops are also hosted at Christmas, Valentines, Mother's Day and Easter where participants will learn decorating techniques themed around each calendar event and leave with either 12 decorated cupcakes, a cupcake bouquet or 24 mini cupcakes. Cost per person is £55.

If, after perfecting your cupcake skills you are keen to turn your pastime into a profession but lack the confidence and business knowledge to give it a go, why not come along to our Cupcake Business Workshop. During the 2 hour discussion led session you will receive all the information you need to confidently launch your business. From legal requirements to packaging, pricing, branding, suppliers and marketing know how, the workshop will cover all these areas and more in a relaxed cupcake filled environment. Cost per person is £45.
